MOHAMMAD RIZWAN FITTEST PLAYER AS PCB CONDUCTS TESTS FOR CWC

LAHORE (9 News) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted players’ fitness tests for the 2019 Cricket World Cup (CWC) on Monday at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), resulting, Mohammad Rizwan proved to be fittest player in the team.

According to the details garnered, Pakistan is conducting fitness test of its cricketer ahead of announcing 15-member team squad for the World Cup. 22 national players reached the NCA for their examination.

According to the tests results of Monday, Pakistan Cricket Board had announced Mohammad Rizwan excelled in the test as he secured first position. Shan Masood and Hassan Ali came in second while Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir, Fakhar Zaman, Junaid Khan and Shoib Malik also cleared the fitness tests.

Meanwhile, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Hussnain and Yasir Shah failed to clear to desired fitness score.

All-rounder Imad Wasim suffered from fitness issues and veteran Mohammad Hafeez’s selection also depends upon his robustness. The fitness test of left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz had been conducted earlier.

On the other hand, Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq will announce the 15-member squad for the World Cup on April 18. The team will depart for London on April 23 to play one-off T20I and five ODIs against England ahead of the World Cup.

The 10-team World Cup is scheduled from May 30 to July 14 in England and Wales. Pakistan will open their campaign with the match against West Indies on May 31 at Nottingham.

Fakhar Zaman sees CWC 2019 favourites tag sitting well on Pakistan

Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistan opener, has said his team will travel to England aiming to win next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 title and not just to make up the numbers.

Zaman, 28, has so far represented his country in 18 one-day internationals, scoring 1065 runs at a brilliant average of 76.06 and 22 Twenty20 Internationals at 30.76. Earlier this year, he became the first Pakistani batsman to hit a double hundred in ODIs – an unbeaten 210 against Zimbabwe in July – which also is his country’s highest individual score in the 50-over format.
